A Chapel and Chapel House situated on a bluff overlooking the Brazos River in Texas.
Both buildings were designed by Maurice Jennings who was a Partner for 25 years of the late Fay Jones. The vaulted peaks, overhanging eaves and criss crossing roof supports, exemplify a style of Fay and Maurice’s earlier work but now given the personal interpretation and vision of Maurice Jennings and Walter, his son.
The materials used are buttressed limestone walls, flagstone floors, natural stained wood and delicate structural metal supports and bracing, clearly showing how the building is supported. The roofs are clad in copper pierced by a regular pattern of skylights which fill the interior with an abundance of natural light.
Both buildings are at one with the natural environment in which they are situated.
